Recently I hiked up Teneriffe trail. I took the first right going up to the part that cuts through the woods on the way to the upper railroad trail that leads you back down. Through the forest, someone had cut down both dead and living trees to block the motorcycle trail that has always been there. I assume this is to discourage riders from using this trail.

I have lived in this area for 14 years and I have learned one thing: going to war on the illegal dirt bikers just enrages them and they will divert the trail, destroying and damaging more topsoil, trees and vegetation.

Perhaps instead it might work better if the trail trash was used to reinforce the trail so that as little of the forest is destroyed as possible. This way the riders get to ride with an encouragement to stay on the existing trails.

This is about as happy as you can hope for, because they won’t stop no matter what you do.
