A real interest shown for junior golf

Letter to the Editor

The “Clubs for Kids” event at the Mount Si Golf Course on Saturday, April 22, was a resounding success.

With great weather over the weekend, we were able to draw 130 kids to come and participate in this free event. The central purpose of Clubs for Kids is to introduce children to golf who may not otherwise have the opportunity. Children were able to hit range balls, play multiple games to win prizes and even play a round of golf on an executive course. This is the second year of this event and with the support we had this year, from volunteers and participants alike, we will continue in the future.

Hosting Clubs for Kids was Brandon’s Little Bogeys Junior Golf, led by Brandon Proudfoot. Brandon is assistant golf professional at Mount Si Golf Course and this year will be running a new version of the junior program that will include classes, leagues and other events.

Classes start the first week of May and run monthly on Wednesdays and Thursdays through the end of September. Also in May, we will be starting a junior nine-hole league on Sunday nights.

For more information, contact Brandon at brandon@mtsigolf.com or check it out at mtsigolf.com and click on “Junior golf.” See you at the course.
