Robert “Bob” Eugene Vezzoni

Robert E. Vezzoni of North Bend passed away Thursday, May 27, 2010, at Overlake Hospital Medical Center in Bellevue. He was 84. Bob was born November 11, 1925 in Snoqualmie to Peter and Mary Vezzoni. He was raised in Snoqualmie where he graduated from Snoqualmie High School in 1943. In January of 1944 Bob enlisted in the United States Navy. He proudly served his country in the Pacific Theater of operations during World War II. Bob was stationed aboard the USS YMS #40, a mine sweeper. On February 1, 1947 Bob married Florence Young in Snoqualmie. They settled in Snoqualmie where they raised three children. Bob opened a successful restaurant in the Meadowbrook Hotel. He also worked at Weyerhaeuser Lumber Company and later, Mountain Tree Farm as a scaler. He then went to work for King County Department of Transportation, where he was a heavy equipment operator and retired after 25 years in 1982.In 1998 Bob and Florence built a home at the Blueberry Farm at the base of Mount Si in North Bend. He would often remark about his home being the most beautiful place on earth. To him, it was paradise.Bob’s greatest love and that brought him the most joy was his family, his cat, Zorro, friends and neighbors. He cherished nothing more than family gatherings, holidays and celebrations that brought his family closer together and he loved to cook for many of these get-togethers. Bob also possessed a green thumb, growing all kinds of vegetables and flowers and feeding his birds. Bob loved to hunt and ÿ sh and even as a young boy, was very well known throughout the valley. Bob especially enjoyed his yearly trips up to Slave Lake, Alberta, Canada to go moose hunting. He treasured his many vacations with family either to Canada or one of the many lakes in Eastern Washington. Bob also kept the blueberry customers entertained with his music playing many afternoons/evenings from his deck.Bob will forever be remembered by his family as a generous man with a giving heart, loving, caring and dedicated husband, father, grandfather, and great-grandfather, who also happened to be the “best story and joke teller” ever! He will be deeply missed and loved always.Survivors include his loving wife of 63 years, Florence, of North Bend; children, Michael Robert Vezzoni of Seattle, Jayne Marie (Steve) Bybee of North Bend and John Eugene Vezzoni of North Bend; brother, Tony Vezzoni (Lyn) of Cle Elum and Willie Vezzoni of Snoqualmie; granddaughters, Kelli Berlin (Tom) and Michelle Bybee; great granddaughter, Makenna Berlin and a host of extended family members and friends.In lieu of flowers the family suggests remembrances to Eastside Fire and Rescue or Snoqualmie Valley Alliance Church.At his request private family services were held at Fall City Cemetery.Friends are invited to view photos, share memories and sign the family’s online guest book at www.flintofts.com.
