Kimberley Ann Berkebile

Kimberley Ann Berkebile, 51, entered Heaven from her beautiful home overlooking Poverty Bay at Redondo Beach, Washington, surrounded by family and friends.

Kim was born on July 27, 1964, to Don and Aloha Berkebile of North Bend. She is survived by sisters, Jane (Wayne) Armstrong of Santa Cruz, California, Deb Reed of Marine Hills and brother, Don Berkebile of Snoqualmie, and much loved nieces, nephews and their families. Kim was preceded in death by her parents Don and Aloha Berkebile, brothers, Tod and Rod Berkebile and sister, Pam Krona. Kim attended North Bend Elementary and Mount Si High schools.

She worked in the family restaurant for 4-years. Kim was also a bookkeeper for Marriott at Pac Car and U.S. West where she was introduced to the Common Sense-Fair Start program training the unemployed to learn a marketable trade. Participants were trained by chefs and Kim taught them interview and job application skills.

Kim was married for 6-years. They lived first in Santa Cruz, California, then the Marshal Islands before returning to the Snoqualmie Valley.

While living on Kwajalein in the Marshal Islands, Kim was injured and began the long journey of back pain and multiple surgeries. Kim’s 2010 lung cancer diagnosis kindled her respect for Snoqualmie Valley Relay for Life. She was so happy to raise funds for their efforts and to have received their Most Inspirational Award.

A high point for Kim was her baptism and membership in City Church of Kirkland.

Kim loved tropical islands and warm beaches. She was fortunate to visit Hawaii multiple times, Santa Cruz area beaches and Key West, Florida. She also took a trip to Prague where she loved the people, the history and architecture.

Justice for Tod Eric Berkebile was Kim’s passion. She was able to get a showing of Tod’s case on Washington’s Most Wanted which renewed interest in his case.

Kim’s final days were plagued by cancer which she faced with dignity and grace.

Services were held Thursday, February 18th at Snoqualmie Valley Alliance Church, officiated by friend Parella Lewis, followed by interment at the Mount Si Memorial Cemetery in North Bend, in the family plot, followed by a reception in her honor.
