Kathleen Stephen, of North Bend, passed away at Overlake Hospital in Bellevue on Thursday, September 17, 2009. She was 90 years old.Kathleen was born on October 2, 1918, in Forks, WA, the daughter of Thomas and Myrtle Ambrose. She was raised in Preston and graduated from Issaquah High School in 1936, where she excelled on the basketball court. Kathleen worked at both Cabrini and Overlake Hospital. As an avid Mariner’s fan she enjoyed many spring training seasons in Peoria with her family. She enjoyed working her jigsaw puzzles and was always ready to answer her phone after the latest cliff hanger Mariner’s game. Kathleen was often seen walking around North Bend on her daily errands. We will truly embrace the memories of her independent nature. She is survived by daughters Carol Erland (Harold) of North Bend and Linda McGlothern (Doug) of Kennewick. Her grandchildren include Heidi Erland of North Bend, Amy McGlothern (Kevin Ryan) of Seattle, and Heather Hamerly (Rob) of Cle Elum. Great grandchildren Jack and Lydia Hamerly. Two treasured sister-in-laws are Shirley Ambrose of Preston and Lois Stephen of Vista, CA. She was preceded in death by her siblings Dorothy Broadbrooks, Sidney Ambrose, George Ambrose and Buford Ambrose and her former husband Robert Stephen. A memorial service will be held Friday, October 9, 2009, at the North Bend Community Church, 126 East Third, North Bend, WA at 6 pm.
