Jennie Mae Miranda Amelia Baker of North Bend, WA, passed away Thursday, June 23, 2011 at Overlake Hospital surrounded by many family members. Jennie Mae was born to Henry and Jane Rosenbauer on March 8, 1916 in Clear Lake, Iowa. The family moved to Minnesota where she and her 10 siblings helped run a farm. She was 95 years of age and was the last surviving member of her family. She graduated from Greenway High School in Coleraine, MN in 1934. After graduation, she worked for a family doing housework and taking care of their six children until she met and married her husband, Martin “Buster” Baker in 1937. He preceded her in death in 1988. She, Buster and three children moved out West to North Bend in 1946. They first lived in a little cabin in Maloney’s Grove and eventually settled in their home on “Baker’s Corner” on the North Fork Road in 1949. She was a member of the Women of the Moose for over 60 years, attaining their highest accolades. Besides raising her family, she worked for many years for Bob and Georgia Bybee on their truck farm down the road. She finally retired from Scott’s Dairy Freeze in 1990. She will long be remembered for all the crocheted afghans she made for family, friends or donated to organizations. She is survived by her seven children. Robert Baker (Pat) of Moses Lake, Shirley Brodie (Conrad) of Rio Verde, AZ, Roger Baker (Jackie) of Kellogg, ID, Roy Baker (Char) of North Bend, Bradley Baker of North Bend, Terri Pratt (Dean) of North Bend and Deborah Baker of Snoqualmie as well as 13 Grandchildren and 15 Great-Grandchildren. A memorial service will be held July 30, 2011 at 11:00am at Opstad Elementary MP Room: 1345 Stilson Rd, North Bend. Reception to follow: 42905 SE 137th Place, North Bend. Her final resting place will be at Tahoma National Cemetery, where her ashes will be placed with Buster’s.
