Howard L. “Bud” Simpson

Howard Simpson passed away at home on October 26, 2010. Bud was born at home in Snoqualmie to Cecil and Dorothy Simpson on April 22, 1935. He was the son of a sawmill worker who grew up in Snoqualmie and graduated from Mount Si High School, Class of 1953. In 1958 he enlisted in the U.S. Army, serving 21 months in Korea. In 1960 he met and married Lynne Boyle. Together they raised their three sons in Snoqualmie. Bud was a volunteer fireman for the City of Snoqualmie for 32 years. His life’s work was many things; he worked for Weyerhaeuser Company, he was a lineman for Cascade Telephone Company, from 1968 to 1972 he operated Bud’s Chevron in Snoqualmie, then continued on to M.C. Anderson Trucking, Renton Issaquah Auto Freight, and finally retiring from Zellerbach Paper in 1997. He and Lynne moved to their cabin in the Teanaway Valley in Cle Elum where he worked for the homeowners association plowing snow. His hobbies through the years were hunting, hardball, softball, motorcycles, snowmobiles, camping, fishing and golf. He is survived by his wife of 50 years, Lynne of South Cle Elum, his sons, Jim of Renton, Mark (and Pam) of Roy, Steve (and Erin) of North Bend, sister Florence Watkins, of Colville, four nieces, four nephews and his grandkids, Kacie Lea, Tanner James and Chandler Howard. A memorial service will be held at Mount Si High School on Sunday, November 7th at 2 pm.
