HELEN E. (Barrett) HAMMOND

Helen was born at the Snoqualmie Falls Hospital on December 29, 1941. The beautiful Snoqualmie Valley was called home for most of Helen’s life and The Valley is where she passed to be with her Lord; surrounded by the family and friends she loved so, on June 11, 2017.

Helen attended North Bend Elementary and Mt Si High School, graduating with the Class of 1960. She lived in Seattle briefly, working at the YMCA before marrying Roy Solomon in 1962. They made their home in Brookside Acres, raising three boys. Helen worked at many local businesses over the years including the Snoqualmie Falls Lodge, B & B Market, Sunshine Shoes, Fuller’s Jewelry and Wyrsch’s Chevron.

In 1985, Helen married Clark Hammond, moving away for a decade to Arlington to be closer to Clark’s work. Post retirement in 2006, they returned to Helen’s family and community of the Snoqualmie Valley. In retirement, nothing made Helen happier then helping her kids and her grandkids with her many talents, including cooking and gardening at their places or hers.

A celebration of Helen’s faith and life was held on Saturday, July 1. Memorial donations can be made to Mountain View Christian Fellowship in support of the TEEN FEED program, which Helen donated her time, talents and energy over the last 10 years.

Helen is preceded in death by her husband Clark Hammond and her parents, Lilliann and Roy Barrett. Helen is loved and deeply missed by her sons Cliff, Geno and Deric Solomon, her seven grandkids; Forrest, Timber, Nicholas, Matthew, Zachary, Alexandria and Christopher. She loved being GG (Great Grandma) to Diezel, Shelby and Baby Geno. Helen also leaves behind the Barrett brothers, Phil, Trevor (and wife Sheila), and David (and wife Mary), her many nieces and nephews, cousins and dear friends.

We are at peace knowing that we gained an angel to look over all of us.
