Edgar Olaf Quaale

Edgar Olaf Quaale, age 93 of Carnation. He passed on January 16, 2011. Edgar was born on January 19, 1917 in Vincent, WA, the son of Olaf and Ingaborg Quaale. He was raised in Vincent and graduated from Tolt High School. At age 14, upon the death of their father, he and his brother, William, continued operating the family dairy farm in the Lower Snoqualmie Valley. The farm was founded in 1920 by his father Olaf. On September 4, 1941 he married Esther Brewer. Ed and Esther raised their family of four children on the farm. He was a member of the school and cemetery boards for many years, and served as a local precinct committeeman. Ed enjoyed fishing, gardening, flowers, family celebrations, and helping his grandchildren. He had a creative spirit and enjoyed making things from found objects, especially bird houses and feeders. He also enjoyed spending time on his hill property. He created his own park with an outstanding view of the Snoqualmie Valley. Survivors include his daughters Thea Benjamin and Kris Kirby, sons Edward and John; sister Emma DeJong; 6 grand- children, and 5 great-grandchildren. The family suggests remembrances to the Sno-Valley Senior Center, P.O. Box 96, Carnation, WA, 98014. A memorial service will be held 11am, Saturday, January 29, 2011 at Flintoft’s Issaquah Funeral Home. A reception will follow.
