DR. JOHN A. BLUHER

The Flying Frontier Orthodontist, Dr. John Alfred Bluher (Doc Bluher) passed away suddenly January 21, 2019 in Cody, Wyoming.

Born on May 31, 1934 to Chester and Pauline (Stall) Bluher. He lived in Fall City, WA. John attended Mt. Si High School and was academically, athletically and musically gifted.

In 1952 he was awarded a full music scholarship to Central Washington University. He changed his major to pre-dentistry. After graduating from the University of Washington dental school, John served in the Air Force for five years at Travis AFB.

After his military service, John attended Northwestern University in orthodontia. He received the much-coveted Milo Hellman award and international recognition for outstanding original research on the Templar Mandibular Joint (TMJ).

John was a pioneer in orthodontics and established satellite offices across Wyoming and Montana. Doc became a pilot and integrated his love of flying into his orthodontics business. The flying frontier orthodontist served multiple generations of patients… “Flying many miles for perfect smiles”.

John is survived by his wife Grace Bluher (Cody), brothers Don Bluher (Fall City), Ron Bluher (Olympia) three children, seven grandchildren and one great-grandson. John was preceded in death by his parents Chester and Pauline Bluher and his sister Deloris Babcock.

A celebration of Doc’s life was Wednesday, January 30, 2019 with Interment at Riverside Cemetery Cody, Wyoming.
