His family were long-time residents of North Bend and eventually there was up to four generations of Waugamans living in the North Bend/Snoqualmie area. Dale graduated from Mt. Si High School in 1955 and attended college at Central Washington College, in Ellensburg. During his time in college he was a member of a vocal music group, The Kingsmen, and did some traveling with the group, performing on both radio and television. His voice was a beautiful baritone that could melt butter.Dale served his country in the United States Navy during the Korean conflict, enlisting in 1957. He was on active duty for two years as a signalman third class, primarily on board the U.S.S. Tingy, a Navy destroyer class vessel.Dale was a great lover of music, but his passion was for hunting, fishing, and the great outdoors. He was most happy while in the pursuit of hunting and fishing, which took him many places around Washington, Oregon, Idaho, and Alaska. This was a passion passed onto him by his father and grandfather before him. He, in turn, passed on his legacy of love for the outdoors to his four daughters; all of whom love and appreciate the beauty of nature. One daughter in particular continues Dale’s passion for fishing and hunting, along with her family—his daughter Kelli. Together they shared many hours hunting and fishing together, as well as with her family in Alaska. Dale retired from Stevadoring Services of America in Tacoma where he worked for many years as a supervisor for Super Cargo. He was responsible for making sure containers were properly loaded and unloaded on ships.
