Alice “Lorraine” Moore

Alice “Lorraine” Moore, died at the age of 77, in the home of her daughter on Saturday, December 5, 2009, after a long illness. Lorraine was born on June 18, 1932, in Tacoma, WA. She was raised in Bucoda, Washington; the younger of two children born to Gunnar & Jessie Sandberg. She attended grammar school in Bucoda and graduated high school at Centralia in 1950. From there she went to business school in Olympia with one of her dear friends from high school. She remained close to several of her high school friends through out the years; with fun get-togethers, especially during the holidays. In 1951 she married her sweetheart Jack Moore. They moved to Bozeman, Montana, where he attended Montana State University. The couple then moved back to Centralia and raised their family of four children.In 1969 Lorraine received a degree from Centralia College. This is the same year the family was transferred to Snoqualmie Valley by her husbands work at Weyerhaeuser. She was a master seamstress and earned her Home Economics degree from the University of Washington in 1973.Later in life she became a realtor and worked for a few businesses in the Snoqualmie Valley. She also worked for the Moffet family at the Snoqualmie Summit for many years. There she made lifelong friends with whom she took many memorable fun trips. As you can see Lorraine was a go-getter most of her life. Always growing and educating herself, meeting any new challenge with great determination. If asked her first love would be golfing and the next would be shopping antiques and refinishing them. She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband Jack, Her brother Harry and granddaughter Andrea. Survivors are; daughters Judy & husband Mike Barr, Janet & husband Dan Waterman, sons Mike & wife Karen Moore, Jack Moore and nine grandchildren whom she loved and spoiled. A graveside service was held at Forest Grove Cemetery in Tenino, Washington, December 12, 2009.
