Before logging and development forever changed the face of the Valley, old-growth trees nearly 400 feet tall dominated the landscape.

A few towering living examples are still scattered throughout the area, including an admirable cluster just a short hike from Interstate 90 at Exit 47. These survivors helped inspire Chuck Brodish to produce an informative and beautiful 30-minute documentary, “The Land of the Giants,” which he will present at 10:30 and 11:30 a.m. Saturday, March 15, at the North Bend library.

Brodish, a retiree and nature enthusiast, will be on hand to answer questions about the film, which gives a visual tour of the Valley’s past and present.
