Candidates interested in running for the three-year term must file a petition of nomination, signed by at least 10 qualified electors of the district, by 5 p.m. Monday, Nov. 7 (the first Monday in November, per RCW Chapter 87.03.075). Candidate petitions may be filed at the SVWID office at 4621 Tolt Ave in Carnation, by mail to P.O. Box 1148 Carnation, or by email to commissioner.5@svwid.com.

If only one candidate files for the position by the filing deadline, then the district will not be required to hold the election, but simply to declare the candidate elected. If more than one candidate files, the district will hold the election from 1 to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Dec. 13, at the district office in Carnation.
