Valley duo ready to blast cancer

SNOQUALMIE VALLEY – Sharon Larson and Sharon Posey are likely among the nicest people you’ll ever meet. Polite and courteous, the two longtime friends don’t look like they have a destructive bone in their bodies.

But mention a certain word and the two begin talking about “blasting” and organizing a team to support their efforts. The two aren’t mad at a particular person, but rather a disease: cancer.

Larson and Posey are both breast cancer survivors – Larson has 3 years in remission and Posey 16 – who are putting together a team for the American Cancer Society Relay for Life scheduled for May 31 at Mount Si High School.

Organizing a team – aptly titled the Snoqualmie Valley Dy-No-Mites because its main mission is to “blast” cancer into oblivion – and raising money is just one way the duo plans on paying back a community they said supported them through tough times in their lives.

“The Valley people take care of their own,” said Posey of the support she received when she was fighting the disease. “They come out of the woodwork when something goes bad. I was never alone and my phone was never quiet during the day.”

Posey said that support is priceless.
