Two reasons to cook out in North Bend

Safeway district manager Craig Hanning dressed up as Elvis and cooked a barbecue lunch for the staff at the North Bend Safeway this past Friday. Hanning promised he would cook lunch as Elvis if the Safeway location met a prestigious service goal and he kept his word.

Dawn and Paul Reading of Paulie’s Pig Pit in Marysville put the finishing touches on some Buffalo-style chicken wings at Gordy’s Steak & BBQ Smokehouse this past Saturday. They were one of eight teams competing in the Pacific Northwest BBQ Association’s Spring Training competition. Gordy’s owner Gordon Harris said he would like to host a similar competition for chili later this year.
