Two dead after tree strikes car near Preston

Two people were killed Sunday, Oct. 24, after a fallen tree struck their car near Preston, according to Eastside Fire & Rescue.

The incident occurred at the 7700 block of Preston Fall City Road SE, near I-90, as high winds hammered Western Washington.

Eastside Fire & Rescue has turned the scene over to the King County Sheriff’s Office for investigation. The Valley Record has reached out to the sheriff’s office for details.

Winds also caused a barn just outside downtown North Bend, located at the 9900 block of 428th Avenue SE, to collapse Sunday morning. No injuries were reported.

Nearly 30,000 Washingtonians remained without power Monday afternoon, according to Puget Sound Energy. The National Weather Service is predicting high winds for the Seattle area to continue into Monday night, with winds expected to taper off between 8 and 11 p.m.
