SNOQUALMIE VALLEY – Snoqualmie Valley Arts Live has another exciting series of six performances scheduled for its 12th season.
The season opens on Sunday, Oct. 24, with the internationally acclaimed Mark O’Connor and the Appalachia Waltz Trio and concludes April 24, 2005 with a stirring performance by the Seattle Repertory Jazz Orchestra. All six dates are on Sundays; curtain time is 4 p.m. in the Mount Si High School Theater.
Other shows in the series are: Dec. 12, Harley Brumbaugh’s Horns-A-Plenty and The Voices of the Valley; Jan. 30, The Cornucopia Concert Band and Friendly Advice Barbershop Quartet; Feb. 27, Maya Soleil (African instrumentalists, vocalists and dancers) and Carmona Flamenco (dances and songs); and Apr. 3, Woodwind and String Ensembles of the Bellevue Philharmonic Orchestra.
Individual performance tickets now are on sale at local outlets (Video Nites, Fall City; Isadora’s, Snoqualmie; Nature’s Marketplace, North Bend), at Ticket Window in Meydenbauer Center, Bellevue (ticketwindowonline.com) or by placing an order at (425) 888-1514. Single ticket prices are: $25 regular admission, $20, seniors and $10 youth for the Mark O’Connor concert. All others shows are $15, $10 and $5. Snoqualmie Valley Arts Live was organized in 1992 and presented its first series in 1993-94 as a committee of the Mount Si Alumni Association, soon after a remodel of the high school allowed performances in a comfortable, 436-seat performance center. It is a nonprofit, 501c(3) organization run by a volunteer board of directors comprised of 10-12 Valley residents intent on providing our audiences with quality, affordable, entertainment. The performances, presented throughout the school year, offer great shows, free cookies, drinks and parking, and a chance to mingle and meet the artists in the commons area.
In an effort to reach out to the community, we have provided free tickets to seniors at the transitional center in North Bend, and to encourage interest in the performing arts in our youth we have, since our beginnings, provided both funding and performance opportunities for Mount Si High School’s musical groups.
To date, SVAL has presented 62 widely diverse programs – the Seattle Symphony, Mud Bay Jugglers, Wylie and the Wild West, Bellevue Philharmonic, Dry Branch Fire Squad, Empty Space Theater, Tingstad and Rumbel, Harry James Big Band and the Seattle Civic Light Opera, to name a few. We have a great mix of musical treats scheduled for the 2004-05 season. Don’t miss it!
