Three killed in I-90 crash near Snoqualmie

Three people died in a two-car collision on the I-90 highway just west of Snoqualmie Parkway and State Route 18 on Sept. 18, according to a report by the Washington State Patrol.

Around 3:45 p.m., a Lincoln MKZ driven by a 42-year-old Tacoma man was traveling eastbound on I-90 when the driver hydroplaned and lost control of the vehicle.

The vehicle then crossed the median, entering the westbound lanes, where it struck a Honda CR-V driven by a 64-year-old Renton man.

After the collision, the vehicles stopped in the second and third lines of the westbound highway, causing a three-hour roadway block. Both the driver of the first car and his passenger, a 34-year-old Spokane woman, died at the scene. The 64-year-old man died at Harborview Medical Center in Seattle.

It is not immediately clear how fast the driver of the first vehicle was traveling or if he was intoxicated, according to the state patrol. All three people involved in the crash were wearing seatbelts.
