Red Wolves handle Issaquah, Bellevue
The Cedarcrest volleyball team continued its rampage
through KingCo 3A last week, downing the Indians and Wolverines in turn.
On Wednesday, Sept. 29, the Wolves fought a long series
with Issaquah, ultimately prevailing 15-9, 12-15, 15-8, 13-15 and
15-10. Standout performances were turned in by Julie Henry with 8 kills, 41
assists, 3 digs and 1 block; Erin Townsend, 18 kills, 6 blocks; Katie Power,
19 kills, 21 digs, 3 blocks, 5 aces; Kara Lawson, 11 kills, 3 blocks, 4 digs,
2 aces; Dorothy Westerman, 1 kill, 17 digs, 4 aces; and Heidi
Vandanacker, 3 kills, 3 assists, 4 digs and 1 ace.
Monday evening the Wolves put out the red carpet for visiting
Bellevue, then proceeded to skin the Wolverines, 15-11, 15-5, 15-5. The player
totals were Townsend, 20 kills; Power, 12 kills and 14 digs; Henry, 33
assists; Vandanacker, 5 kills; Lawson, 5 kills; and Westerman, 3 kills and 7 digs.
Cedarcrest traveled to Newport Wednesday night, Oct. 6. They
make a trip to Kennedy this Saturday.
Wildcats fall
to Mercer Island, down Issaquah
The mighty `Cats put together a .500 week on the volleyball court,
falling to Mercer Island before rebounding against Issaquah.
The Islanders dominated Wednesday’s contest, winning
15-7, 15-1 and 15-2. Individual totals for the Wildcats were Stephanie Sales, 2
kills and 3 digs; Kristen Everett, 6 assists; and Heather Lewis, 4 kills and 8 digs.
The team put it together the following Monday, Oct. 4,
overcoming Issaquah 2-15, 15-12, 15-9 and 15-11. The numbers were Sales, 11 kills,
4 aces and 3 blocks; Everett, 30 assists; Lewis, 13 kills and 14 digs;
Betsy Bankson, 6 kills, 4 digs; and Genevieve Weber, 5 digs and 2 assists.
The Wildcat volleyballers paid an away visit to Bellevue
Wednesday night, Oct. 6.
