The city of Snoqualmie invites the public to the swearing in of Zach Cezar, who will serve as the Snoqualmie Police Department’s Chief for a Day. Mayor Matt Larson will administer the oath of office to Cezar, age 9, at the Snoqualmie City Council meeting, 7 p.m., Monday, July 25 at City Hall.

Cezar was chosen as the honorary chief as part of a statewide event recognizing children who have been diagnosed with a life-threatening or chronic illness. He has been diagnosed with optic pathway glioma, a slow-growing tumor that arises in or around the optic nerve.

The Snoqualmie Police Department is asking the community to contribute toward its goal of raising $5,000 to help the Cezar family with Zach’s medical expenses. Donations can be made until August 10 at the Snoqualmie Police Station, 34825 SE Douglas St.
