Snoqualmie Strings, a local youth orchestra, will present their first-ever stage performance 6:30 p.m. Monday, Dec. 14, at the North Bend Theatre. Featured music includes works by Beethoven, Brahms, and Tchaikovsky, American folk tunes, pop songs and Christmas carols. Admission is free, but a small donation of $2 per individual or $5 per family is suggested. The Strings is a local youth orchestra that was started in May to meet the needs of young musicians in the Snoqualmie Valley. It started with just 10 participants, and has since grown to 18. Experience among participants ranges from less than a year to six years or more. Local musicians Sheila Bateman, Seth Mae-Patterson, and Caroline Faflak coach the group.
