Snoqualmie Parkway construction starts next week, goes until September

Lane closures and major delays are expected to start in August

The Snoqualmie Parkway will be under construction for the next few months as the city begins its $3.75 million rehabilitation of the road on Tuesday, June 20.

Construction is planned to run Monday through Thursday until Sept. 28. The road will remain open throughout construction.

Residents can anticipate minimal traffic impacts until major construction, including grinding and repaving, starts near the end of July. In August, residents should expect traffic delays and lane closures.

By September, major work will be complete and crews will start drawing pavement markings.

The parkway rehabilitation project is funded entirely by the state dollars awarded to the city by the 2022 Move Ahead Washington Transportation Package.

A weather-dependent timeline of construction can be found below.

  • June 20 – July 27: Demo and replacement of ADA ramps at multiple Snoqualmie Parkway intersections between Better Way Loop SE and SE 99th Street. This work is anticipated to cause minimal traffic impacts.
  • July 31 – August 10: Grinding and paving of the northeast lanes of Snoqualmie Parkway (lanes heading toward SR 202 from I-90), and installation of new traffic signal loops. A traffic plan will be in place. Lane closures will be required, with the roadway remaining accessible and open to traffic.
  • August 14 – August 24: Grinding and paving of the southwest lanes of Snoqualmie Parkway (lanes heading toward I-90 from SR 202), and installation of new traffic signal loops. A traffic plan will be in place. Lane reductions will be required, with the roadway remaining accessible and open to traffic.
  • August 28 – September 28: Permanent pavement markings installed.
