Snoqualmie Fire and Rescue receives honors, equipment

Snoqualmie Fire and Rescue is pleased to announce that one of its

fire and rescue firefighters, Mike Bailey, has been selected to attend the

National Fire Academy in Emmitsberg, Md. Bailey serves as the Director

of Public Education and Fire Prevention for the department.

The course is two weeks in duration and will train Bailey on

development of public safety programs and methods of delivery for the city

of Snoqualmie. The course is limited to 30 students from across the

nation. The cost of the course, airfare and lodging is paid through the

Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA).

In other news, the department has taken delivery of its second

defibrillation device. This device monitors heart rhythms and delivers an

electric shock to the heart when needed.

The purchase of this unit was made possible from donations received

in memory of John Larson and Jim Tobacco, who were both previously

volunteer firefighters with the city. The Snoqualmie Fire Fighters

Association paid the remaining cost with money received from their fund-raising

activities.

The addition of this unit allows the fire department to effectively

respond to multiple heart-related calls, should they occur.

The city of Snoqualmie and the Department of Public Safety wish

save lives in our community.
