SNOQUALMIE – Snoqualmie City Treasurer Janet Carr was fired from her post Nov. 24 after working for the city of Snoqualmie a little more than two years.

In her letter of termination from Mayor Fuzzy Fletcher, he wrote: “It is extremely important that I be able to have unqualified confidence in the person responsible for handling the City’s funds and maintaining the City’s books and records. Based on the current status of the City’s books and records I no longer have that confidence in you.”

Carr came to Snoqualmie from a bank management position to replace former city treasurer Shirley Leonard, who resigned after four years in the post. Carr, a Carnation resident, brought 25 years of experience in the financial industry to her position as treasurer. She was hired Aug. 1, 2002, and was making $4,765 per month at the time of her termination.

Snoqualmie City Administrator Bob Larson did not want to comment on any specific reasons why Carr was terminated.

Ruth Muller was appointed interim treasurer at the Dec. 13 City Council meeting. Muller has worked with the city as a financial consultant over the years.

As of Dec. 10, Larson said the 2003 audit reports had not arrived to the city office yet and that he was still in the process of scheduling an exit interview with the auditor.

“We will have it forthcoming before the end of December, we’re still working on some of the details,” Larson said.

The city of Snoqualmie approved its $21.2-million budget for 2005 at its Dec. 13 meeting.
