Mount Si students were in high style last week during the ninth annual Homecoming fashion show, put on by Elaine-Marie Berg Kugen’s fashion marketing class with help from the DECA Club.

More than 60 students were involved in putting on the annual show, with a spotlight on fashion for the Homecoming festivities, theme: “Viva Las Vegas.” Volunteer models walked the runway in formalwear and a few casual outfits (borrowed from Macy’s, Buckle, and Men’s Wearhouse) for each of three lunch periods and an evening show on Wednesday, Oct. 5, in an event that has become a student tradition.

“What we’re trying to do is get the whole school involved,” Berg Kugen explained, so models come from all grade levels and throughout the school. “There were two students in this show that were in the first show when they were in middle school.”

Students also build the sets, take the photos and video, recruit the models, write the scripts and manage all the production in this free event.

“It’s giving kids an experience, and giving back to the community,” Berg Kugen said.
