Significant flooding closes schools, roads, throughout the Valley

School has been canceled in the Snoqualmie Valley and Riverview School Districts today as flooding closed roads throughout the Valley. The Snoqualmie River reached Flood Phase 4 early Tuesday evening and is expected to crest around 10 a.m. Wednesday. The current flow at Snoqualmie is 47,400 cubic feet per second, 18.2 feet.

The Snoqualmie River reached Flood Phase 4 early Tuesday evening and is expected to crest around 10 a.m. Wednesday. The current flow at Snoqualmie is 47,400 cubic feet per second, 18.2 feet.

The Tolt River reached Flood Phase 3 Tuesday evening and the level dropped slightly overnight but is reported to be rising again as of 4 a.m.

The city of Snoqualmie has issued a level 1 evacuation alert for the Mountain Avenue S.E. neighborhood near the Meadowbrook Bridge, and the Pickering Court Apartments on S.E. Northern Street. Level 1 indicates that a neighborhood has more potential for flooding than others. Evacuation is not required, but could become necessary.

Level 2 indicates that residents should be prepared to evacuate. Level 3 indicates immediate evacuation is needed.

An emergency alert has been sent from the Snoqualmie Emergency Alert system to all phone numbers, text numbers, and emails in the database. (www.bit.ly/SnoquamieEAS)

Roads closed include:

  • Park Ave S.E. from SE Newton St to S.E. River St
  • 80th Ave S.E. from Kimball Creek to Pine Ave S.E
  • Boalch Ave S.E. from Centennial Field Park past Meadowbrook Farm (city limits)
  • S.E. Northern St at Pickering Court
  • S.E. Cedar Street from Pine Ave S.E.to 80th Ave S.E.
  • S.E. Mill Pond Rd from State Route 202 to the Meadowbrook Bridge
  • S.E. Reinig Rd from 396th Drive to the Meadowbrook Bridge
  • S.W. Mount Si Boulevard between Bendigo Boulevard S. and South Fork Avenue S.W.;
  • The North Bend Way park-and-ride on North Bend Way across from the Pour House;
  • N.W. Eighth Street;
  • Ballarat Avenue NE between N.E. Eighth Street and N.E. 12th Street;
  • Boalch Avenue N.W. north of N.W. 14th Street; and
  • 415th Way S.E. adjacent to I-90 Exit 31.

 

Roads that have significant water on them include S.W. Ribary Way;=, S.W. 10th Street in Forester Woods; and Forester Boulevard S.W.

Residents are cautioned to never drive through floodwaters and to report flooded roads and neighborhoods to North Bend Public Works, (425) 736-7697 or  to the Snoqualmie Emergency Operations Center at (425) 888-5911.

Sand and sandbags are available, free to residents, at the North Bed Public Works Shop located at 1155 E North Bend Way, and at Snoqualmie’s King Street Lot.
