School bond failed in final results certification

A final vote of 6,467 in favor to 4,991 against was certified Wednesday morning, May 11, on the Snoqualmie Valley School District’s April 26 bond issue, resulting in a bond failure. The $56.2 million bond, which would have cost voters an additional $0.49 per $1,000 of property value, needed a 60 percent supermajority to pass, but received only 56.44 percent approval
Voter turnout was 53.4 percent, with 11,467 votes cast, and 9 votes discarded. In comparison, the Feb. 8 voter turnout on the same bond issue was 46.67 percent, with 9,980 votes cast. The February 8 attempt failed by one vote, 5,972 to 3,983.
