As King County’s 40-year police contract with North Bend comes to an end, the substation at 1550 Boalch Avenue will open to the community for the last time Feb. 27.

Community members are invited to an open house, 3 to 5 p.m. Thursday, Feb. 27 to send off the officers, share memories and look ahead. Many current and former deputies will be there.

The substation will be closed at the end of the day Feb. 27, as the department begins the process of emptying the building. To streamline the transition, the substation will end some resident services earlier. Concealed weapons permits will be available at the office through Thursday, Feb. 20, at limited times. Call (425) 888-3333 to find an open time slot. After the 20th, city residents can apply for the permits through the Snoqualmie Police Department. Residents of unincorporated King County can apply at the Sheriff’s substation in the Sammamish City Hall, or at the King County Courthouse in Seattle.

The last day to dispose of prescription drugs is Wednesday, Feb. 26. Drop-boxes are also available in the Snoqualmie and Sammamish Police Departments. The drop-box in North Bend, in place since early 2010, has removed hundreds of pounds of unused prescription drugs from the community.

Starting at midnight March 8, the Snoqualmie Police Department will begin providing police services for North Bend.
