The Northwest Railway Museum will be rebuilding the railroad
crossing surface on State Route 202 /Bendigo Street in downtown North
Bend beginning on Monday, March 20, at 7 a.m. This project will last
three days and requires the complete closure of the roadway. Cars will be
able to detour on Park Street; however, trucks will have to detour via
Interstate 90 Exit 27 or Exit 32, accessing S.R. 202 via Meadowbrook Way.
Detour signs will be provided to assist the traveling public.
The purpose of this project is to replace the driving surface with
precast concrete sections to improve the ride quality for cars and trucks.
The new crossing will resemble the one installed on the new
Snoqualmie Parkway in 1998.
Nearly 24,000 vehicles per day use this railroad crossing and the
last major work on the surface was done in the early 1980s. This high
volume of traffic has taken its toll on the asphalt surface that is now breaking
up and causing a rough ride. The new crossing will have a life of 25 to
30 years.
Again, Bendigo Street (S.R. 202) will be closed from
Monday, March 20, at 7 a.m. until Wednesday, March 22, at 6 p.m..
