A huge downpour soaked Wildcat alumni and students alike last Friday, Oct. 16, but couldn’t dampen their school spirit.

Fans in scarlet and gray, and a bleached-white student fan section roared with pride at Mount Si stadium during the varsity game against Sammamish. Rain hammered the stadium roof, but fans were louder.

The night kicked off with a national anthem sung by the Mount Si Choir. At the half, homecoming royalty braved the rain, rolling onto the field in golf carts. King Luke Zupan and Queen Taylor Warnke were crowned, and the procession paused to watch red, white and blue fireworks soar over the field.

Mount Si royalty also included seniors Emily Beekman, Natalie Nelson, Brooks Malberg, Ben Larson, Brett Duncan, Donny Hedrickson, Rossco Castagno, Jordan Karavias, Karly Thompson and Megan Past, juniors Andrew Dunklee and Sarah Robbins, sophmores Ryan Sharon and Taylor Danielson, and freshmen Alex Censullo and Hailey White.

Already ahead of the game and dressed in their best, the royalty sat front row and were good sports as they tried to keep dry and showed their school spirit with the rowdy crowd.

Students predictions were correct as they said the football team would destroy and obliterate Sammamish.

“I think Mount Si is going to get an astounding victory,” Laurel Mahnke said during the first quarter. The ‘Cats took the win, 54-13.

But what was most exciting for students was the homecoming dance, “Tonight’s Dreams, Tomorrow’s Memories,” that followed on Saturday evening at TPC Snoqualmie.
