Racing dump trucks, bear sightings: Snoqualmie Valley police and fire calls

On April 29, a caller in the 35500 block of Southeast Kinsey Street reported seeing a large bear heading toward the golf course. The responding officer did not locate the bear, but at 2:22 a.m., another home-owner did. The caller said a bear was rummaging through his trash can, found some food, and left with it, walking toward Douglas Street.

Tuesday, May 3

Run Off Road: At 3:34 p.m., a jogger reported to police that he’d been run off the trail by a young man driving a quad, in the 7800 block of Fisher Avenue Southeast, a few minutes earlier. The responding officer was unable to locate vehicle or driver.

Friday, April 29

Bear Sightings: At 12:42 a.m., a caller in the 35500 block of Southeast Kinsey Street reported seeing a large bear heading toward the golf course. The responding officer did not locate the bear, but at 2:22 a.m., another home-owner did. The caller said a bear was rummaging through his trash can, found some food, and left with it, walking toward Douglas Street.

Gunshots: At 6:46 p.m. a caller reported hearing what might have been gunshots coming from the area of the Weyerhauser Mill site, on Southeast Tokul Road and Southeast 60th Street. The responding officer did not see a possible cause for the noise, and did not hear any more sounds.

No Stop: At 6:50 a.m., a caller from the Snoqualmie Valley School District reported a vehicle that had failed to stop for a school bus, near the intersection of Fairway Avenue Southeast and Southeast Kinsey Street. Police contacted the driver of the vehicle, who admitted that she hadn’t stopped because her children were distracting her. The officer gave her a warning.

Transients Under Bridge: At 4 a.m., police received a report of multiple people sleeping under the I-90 underpass near Truck Town.

Monday, May 2

Racing Dump Trucks: At 11:52 a.m., a caller reported seeing a street race between dump trucks on Southeast Cedar Falls Way. The caller estimated they were going 45 mph in a 30 mph zone, and said they had come from a construction site on Maloney Grove Avenue Southeast.

Car Prowl: At 11:08 p.m., police received a report of a theft from vehicle in the West 1000 block of North Bend Way. The thief had shattered the front passenger window of the vehicle, which had been parked in a business lot, and stole an unspecified number of items.

Stolen Vehicle Recovered: At 12:59 a.m., four officers became involved in the investigation and recovery of a vehicle stolen from the victim’s driveway in the 500 block of Ballarat Avenue North. They apprehended the female driver, and later released her.

Wednesday, May 4

Car vs. cycle: At 12:45 p.m., Fall City Fire Department, Eastside Fire and Rescue and Bellevue Paramedics responded to the 2100 block of Fall City Carnation Road Southeast for a motorcycle versus car accident. The motorcycle t-boned the car when as it began to pass the car when it turned in front of it. All patients were evaluated, and treatment began at the scene. A private ambulance transported the patient Overlake Hospital for further treatment.

Saturday, April 30

Smoke: At 1:13 p.m., Fall City Fire Department responded to the 1700 block of 271st Avenue Southeast in Snoqualmie for reports of smoke in a residence. Firefighters searched the entire house and attic and narrowed the smoke to a faulty HVAC unit.

Friday, April 29

Structure fire: At 4:24 a.m., Fall City Fire Department responded to the 20900 block of Northeast 50th Street in Redmond for reports of a structure fire. Crews used their tender’s 3000 gallon water tank to supply water to aid the fire engines on scene with extinguishing the fire. The tender made multiple trips, filling its tank from the nearest fire hydrant, and supplying the fire engines on scene. Crewmembers worked together for several hours to extinguish the fire, and protect all exposures.

Unstable car: At 10:56 a.m., Fall City Fire crews responded to the 31400 block of Southeast 40 Street for an unstable car off the roadway, with the driver afraid of taking her foot off the brake and having the vehicle roll. Upon arrival, firefighters secured the car to a nearby tree with rope, and assisted the driver safely out of the vehicle.

Stroke: At 1:36 p.m., Emergency Medical Technicians responded to the 5700 block of 322nd Avenue Southeast for an offsite secondhand report of a 72-year-old man who may have experienced a stroke while speaking with the reporting party on the phone. Upon arrival, EMTs found the house to be locked, no one answering the door, and no one visible from the window. EMTs then forced entry through the door, and found the patient upstairs. Due to the patient’s stroke-like symptoms, he was rapidly transported to a nearby hospital for further treatment.

Thursday, April 28

Breathing problem: At 1:19 p.m., crews responded to the 27900 block of Northeast Fifth Street for an 88-year-old man who was unresponsive. Upon arrival, Emergency Medical Technicians found the patient to be responsive to voice, but having breathing difficulty. Fall City Fire Department rendezvoused with Bellevue paramedics for an evaluation. Fall City Fire Department then transported the patient to Evergreen Hospital for further treatment.

Allergic reaction: At 4:32 p.m., Emergency Medical Technicians responded to the 4100 block of 330th Place for a 68-year-old man experiencing an allergic reaction. Emergency Medical Technicians evaluated and transported the patient to Snoqualmie Valley Hospital for further treatment.
