With food, fuel and employee costs on the rise, the Snoqualmie Valley School District will increase prices of school meals so its food service program can continue to operate on a break-even basis.

“It’s another example of rising costs our economy is dealing with,” said district spokeswoman Carolyn Malcolm. “Districts across the state are raising their prices.”

Breakfast at elementary school will now cost $1.75, middle and high schoolers will pay $1.90, and adults will be charged $2.25. For lunch, the fee will be $3.25 in elementary and middle schools, and $3.50 for high schoolers. Adults will pay $4.

Free and reduced food program rates will still apply.
