The Mount Si and Little Si trailheads and trails will remain closed through Tuesday, February 28 while crews work to remove the wreckage of the single-engine airplane that crashed in the Mount Si Natural Resources Conservation Area (NRCA) on February 15.
Mount Si NRCA, located in eastern King County near the town of North Bend, is a popular recreation area along the I-90 corridor.
“We know this closure affects a lot of people’s weekend plans, and we appreciate everyone’s patience,” said Doug McClelland, Assistant Region Manager for DNR’s South Puget Sound Region. “For public safety reasons, DNR is keeping the area closed through the weekend to give the contractor and crews from Seattle Mountain Rescue clear access to the site.”
DNR will provide updates on the status of the Mount Si area through its social media tools, including Facebook, Twitter and its Ear to the Ground blog.
