Thursday, Aug. 14, 1958

• Members of the Snoqualmie Volunteer Fire Department responded to nearly half a dozen fire calls in the space of four days, beginning with a brush fire that sent them racing to The Terrace at Snoqualmie Falls on Aug. 6.

• There will be no kindergarten this fall in School District 407. This was the decision reluctantly reached by school board members, in line with last April’s announcement that kindergarten classes would only be conducted if 50 or more children were registered.

• A very interesting account of the financial crisis which faces the schools, brought about by the even division of the State Supreme Court on the question of the constitutionality of the occupation tax, passed by the recent legislature and designed to provide revenue for the common schools of the state, has been submitted to the publishers of the Valley Record by R.J. Schusman, superintendent of Snoqualmie schools.
