North Bend is seeking nominations for its 2008 Citizen of the Year Award.

“This is the time where we at the city of North Bend honor the people and businesses whose hard work, spirit and dedication make our community great,” said Mayor Ken Hearing.

This year’s winner will be announced at the Tuesday, Jan. 20 city council meeting.

The Citizen of the Year is an individual or business that has gone above and beyond to make North Bend a better place to live, through professional or volunteer efforts, or by an extraordinary contribution to the community.

“We want to honor those who have shown, through their actions, that they truly care about the community,” said City Administrator Duncan Wilson.

To make a nomination, send a letter detailing what the person or business has done for the community and why they deserve the award, by 5 p.m. Friday, Dec. 19. Nominators should include the daytime telephone numbers for themselves and their nominee.

Nominations should be directed to the attention of City Administrator Duncan Wilson. They can be sent by e-mail to duncanw@ci.north-bend.wa.us, by regular mail to City of North Bend, P.O. Box 896, 211 Main Ave. N., North Bend, WA 98045; or dropped off in person.
