North Bend’s population pushed past 5,000 for the first time ever when King County approved the city’s annexation of the Tanner neighborhood on July 6. The annexation, which was driven by citizen petitions, added 888 residents and 130 businesses to the city. North Bend will add two seats to its city council, which it will discuss at its next meeting in September. Selections for the two new seats is expected to be finished by the end of the year, according to Duncan Wilson, North Bend’s city administrator.

Real estate consultant Jeri Cranney filed the first business license application from the newly annexed area on July 30.

“We have looked forward to becoming part of the city of North Bend for some time,” said Cranney, who owns Abaco Pacific, Inc.
