North Bend picks police chief for King County Sheriff’s Office contract

The new chief is a lifelong Snoqualmie Valley resident.

North Bend’s mayor has decided which King County Sheriff’s Office member will lead the city’s new police department.

Starting Jan. 1, Sgt. Ed Hall will be the King County Sheriff’s Office (KCSO) North Bend chief of police. Hall was chosen by North Bend Mayor Mary Miller after a community open house and panel interviews in November. Interviews included Miller, City Administrator Amber Emery, North Bend City Council members and other community representatives.

Hall was chosen for his successful experience in law enforcement and connection to the Snoqualmie Valley, according to a news release.

Hall has worked for KCSO for 21 years and was most recently a sergeant for Sammamish. In the early 2000s, he served as a deputy for North Bend under the city’s previous KCSO contract.

Hall is a lifelong Snoqualmie Valley resident whose father also served as a North Bend police officer. He now lives with his family in Fall City.

“With nearly three decades of law enforcement experience in Washington state and accolades commending him for service and leadership, I am confident Sgt. Hall will nurture and protect our highly livable community,” Miller said in a news release. “His work speaks volumes of his commitment to public safety, together with community engagement, transparency and partnership.”

In May, North Bend chose to pursue an interlocal agreement for police services with KCSO and end its contract with the Snoqualmie Police Department. This transition will begin April 1, 2026.
