North Bend Arts Committee to help connect Valley artist to city

The city of North Bend is about to form an organization to help it connect with the arts community in the Valley.

Community-minded North Bend artist Richard Burhans is pushing for a Valley-wide arts committee and suggested a number of individuals for appointment to a North Bend Arts Committee.

Prospective members were set to be appointed at the Tuesday, Jan. 19, council meeting at the Mount Si Senior Center. The committee forms that night.

Committee members will be charged with advising the council on the arts and tackling arts-related projects.

City Administrator Duncan Wilson said citizen input will be welcomed on the arts commission. Locals can share their thoughts about the arts at commission meetings, and there may be room for participation on the arts advisory commission.
