North Bend just got bigger.

The city officially added the Tanner Annex on Monday, July 6, bringing in an estimated 950 new residents and $180 million in assessed value, according to the city.

North Bend’s City Council approved the annexation at a June 23 special meeting. Five days earlier King County’s Boundary Review Board had approved the addition, which includes the Woods River and other subdivisions off Tanner Road.

The city must now conduct a census of the area, which it contracted out for $7,500.

To represent the new residents, North Bend could have to add two new members to the city council, which currently has five members.

The annexation will mean new revenue for the city, which will likely begin to see a financial benefit within a year, according to Duncan Wilson, the city’s administrator.
