Walk into the new King County Library branch on Snoqualmie Ridge, and you’ll notice the wall of glass that gives a dramatic view of Mount Si.

That view wasn’t originally planned for the building. It took Snoqualmie library patrons to make it a reality.

The new library on Snoqualmie Ridge, which opens with a celebration at 10 a.m. Wednesday, Aug. 1, is a success story of how people in the community can guide the design process of their library, according to Dri Ralph, facilities design coordinator for King County Library System.

The $4 million, 6,000 square-foot Snoqualmie library is the first of five new libraries to be built in King County, including Carnation, Duvall, Black Diamond and Muckleshoot, as part of the $172 million library capital bond approved by voters in 2004.
