Mount Si Food Bank is in a state of flux this week, with the Upper Valley pantry, which serves hundreds of local families of low income, apparently pulling out of its North Bend location.

“We need to share with you that the Mt Si Food Bank has been asked to leave its present location,” next to North Bend Community Church, a message on the food bank’s Facebook page posted on Thursday afternoon, Jan. 23.

Volunteers were told that their participation has been canceled. Move-out day is Wednesday, Jan. 29.

“Those of us who are deeply connected with the Mount Si Food Bank want all of our volunteers to know how important you have been and will be to us in the near future. We will be contacting you when we have secured our location, dates and times,” the post stated.

One volunteer visited the Record office today to report that he couldn’t drop off donations because the building was closed and locked.

Founded in 1975, the food bank helps around 400 families a week, provides turkeys during the holidays and lunch for children in the summertime.

Mount Si Food Bank has been in transition lately, with the overseeing organization, the Snoqualmie Valley Ministerial Association, parting ways with former management last fall. New management was coming online this winter.
