Mount Si alumni Matthew Scott clears Army’s basic training

Mount Si alum and U.S. Army private Mathew E. Scott has graduated from basic combat training at Fort Jackson, Columbia, S.C. During the nine weeks of training, the soldier studied the Army mission, history, tradition and core values, physical fitness, and received instruction and practice in basic combat skills, weapons training, drill and ceremony, basic first aid, foot marches, and field training exercises.

Scott is the son of Kim Garcia of Federal Way. He graduationed from Mount Si High School in 2012.
