Memorial service is Wednesday for North Bend timber climber Ralph E. Koplin

Ralph E. Koplin, 80, of North Bend, died Thursday, Sept. 6, in Seattle. Ralph was born October 9, 1931, in Amboy, Wash., to Lester and Lillie Koplin. Ralph enlisted in the U.S. Air Force in 1950. He worked for Weyerhauser in Snoqualmie. He spent most of his time with them on the “rig up” crew. He was also the last paid high climber working out of this mill. He stayed with Weyerhauser until his retirement.

Ralph was an avid outdoorsman. Hunting and fishing were his favorites.

Survivors include children Kenneth Koplin, Diane Peoples, William Koplin,  Michael Harrison,  David Harrison, Marjorie Parrot,  Steven Harrison,  Kathie Harrison; sister Barbara Nolin,; 19 grandchildren and many great grandchildren.

A funeral service will be held Wednesday, Sept. 12, at Flintofts Issaquah Funeral Home.  A committal follows at Tahoma National Cemetery.
