McKiernan named publisher of Record

Jim McKiernan has been named publisher of the Snoqualmie Valley Record, a 4,600-circulation weekly newspaper operated by King County Journal Newspapers. McKiernan, 42, has served as general manager of the Record since the newspaper was purchased from him and his wife Karen in 2000.

“Jim’s record of leadership with the Record and his deep commitment to the greater Snoqualmie Valley community make him the natural choice for this position,” said John S. Perry, executive vice president of King County Journal Newspapers.

McKiernan has been a resident of the Snoqualmie Valley since 1966. He began working at the Record in 1996 after working for the Boeing Co. for 11 years. He and Karen purchased the newspaper in that year from her father, Bob Scott.

McKiernan has been active in the Snoqualmie community and the newspaper industry. He served as president of the Chamber of Commerce and Mount Si Alumni Association. Her has served on the board of directors for the Washington Newspaper Publisher Association.
