McKenna to speak at Mount Si drug abuse forum

Washington Attorney General Rob KcKenna will speak at a Youth Prescription Drug Abuse Community Education Forum, planned for 7 p.m. Friday, Feb. 24, at Mount Si High School.

McKenna will join experts from Snoqualmie Valley Hospital and Seattle’s SAMA Foundation. Encompass Executive Director Gregory Malcolm moderates.

The event is a public forum on one of the top causes of drug-related deaths in King County. Parents, grandparents and other adults can learn how to “check, lock and dispose” of prescription drugs before the harm or death of a young person occurs in the Snoqualmie Valley due to lack of awareness.

The Forum is sponsored by the Snoqualmie Valley Hospital Foundation. In announcing the Forum, SVHF President Jim Schaffer commented,

“Three in five teenagers say they can get drugs right from their parents’ medicine cabinets,” said Jim Schaffer, Foundation president and Snoqualmie Police Chief. “We’re asking local businesses and others to help promote the forum in whatever way they feel appropriate.”
