A 24-year-old Snoqualmie man was in court his week on an assault charge, after allegedly sinking his teeth into the police officer who was investigating him for hanging a swastika-laden poster in a tavern men’s room.

Charges of assault in the third degree were filed Sept. 14 in King County Superior Court against Adam Michael Moore. An arraignment was set for Monday, Sept. 28.

According to charging documents, on July 11, Snoqualmie Police Officer Derek Kasel responded to Smokey Joe’s Tavern for a racially-motivated malicious mischief complaint.

Someone had put a poster with swastikas and white supremacist-type writing on it, including “Don’t listen to rap” and “only listen to white music.”

Moore was identified as the poster’s creator after tavern patrons found it shortly after he exited the restroom.

When Kasel asked to speak to him, and Moore grew aggressive, while shouting and using racial epithets. When Kasel attempted to detain him, Moore allegedly punched the officer in the right eye, throwing several more blows at his face. A struggle broke out, and Moore bit Kasel’s right forarm. Two officers managed to subdue and then restrain him.

The writing on the poster was similar in content and handwriting to graffiti found earlier this year on churches and a Christian bookstore in Snoqualmie.

According to the report, Moore was also being investigated in connection with the three arson fires set this summer in downtown Snoqualmie. No arrests have been made in that case.

Court documents stated that Moore has a history of assaulting police and custodians. His prior convictions include two custodial assaults in 2007, third degree assault and attempted third degree assault in 2006.
