Members of the Snoqualmie Valley Preservation Alliance have called a public meeting to share their latest findings on downstream impacts of floods by engineering projects at Snoqualmie Falls.

The group is suing the United States Army Corps of Engineers in federal court, calling for a comprehensive study of river impacts and a halt to current Puget Sound Energy river widening project at the cataract.

The Alliance claims that the Corps of Engineers ignored a Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) directive to analyze the downstream impact on flooding to the lower Snoqualmie Valley of a river widening project by Puget Sound Energy. Members allege the Corps avoided a permitting process that would have required more public input and more thorough analysis.

The meeting is 7 p.m. Friday, Nov. 19, at the Tolt Middle School gym in Carnation.
