Long-term closure of SR 18 truck lane to come June 7

People who use SR 18 near I-90 should plan extra time for their trips, WSDOT says

The following is a press release from the Washington State Department of Transportation

People who use State Route 18 near I-90 should continue to plan extra time for their trips, as contractor crews work to widen the highway and redesign the interchange.

SR 18 closures

To prepare for widening, crews will close the truck climbing lanes throughout the project, reducing traffic to one lane in each direction. Starting Wednesday, June 7, the eastbound lane will close; on Friday, June 9, the westbound lane will close.

Additionally, people should expect slight traffic shifts on SR 18 during the daytime commute and intermittent nightly lane reductions as early as 8 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays reopening by 5 a.m. Flaggers will direct motorists when traffic is reduced to one lane.

I-90 closures

Near Preston, the left lane on westbound I-90 will close each day from 9 a.m. to 7 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays, for utility work.

Additionally, flaggers will alternate traffic on Upper Preston Road Southeast at the I-90 overpass from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. Mondays through Thursdays, June 5-15.

I-90/SR 18 interchange improvements and widening

When complete in 2025, this project will improve safety and keep traffic flowing through the busy corridor.

A second project will complete highway widening from Deep Creek to Issaquah-Hobart Road when the first project is finished. Drilling crews continue to work west of Tiger Mountain and may close lanes intermittently on weekdays.

Real-time traffic information is available on the WSDOT statewide travel map, the WSDOT app and the WSDOT regional Twitter account.
