What do Mr. Clean, “The Late Show” music director Paul Shaffer, actor Vin Diesel and North Bend City Council-member Chris Garcia have in common? If Garcia gets enough money, he plans to shave his head to join the ranks of the world’s bald-headed men. The money isn’t for him, it’s for a children’s cancer charity.

Garcia plans to participate in the March 13 fundraiser at Fado Irish Pub in Seattle for St. Baldrick’s Foundation, a volunteer-driven nonprofit organization that raises money for childhood cancer research, treatment and to improve the long-term quality of life for children who survive.

“I really like doing stuff for kid’s charities and I have some friends who have done it in the past,” Garcia said.

If he receives $4,000 in pledges or gets close to his goal, Garcia said he would shave his head for the charity. All money collected will go to the foundation, whether Garcia’s goal is met or not.

Pledges may be sent to Garcia at P.O. Box 1335, North Bend, WA, 98045 by March 10. They may also be dropped off at North Bend’s City Hall, 211 Main Ave. N., North Bend, the Valley Record at 8124 Falls Avenue, Snoqualmie or at Frankie’s Pizza, 249 Main Ave. S., North Bend. Garcia is co-owner of the restaurant.
